WIFE Rule #!5

Now Rule #15 Might not Apply to every WIFE.
As a tradition, every year on Christmas Eve, my family drags me to a Catholic church. And what I've always looked forward to the most is that its another excuse to get all dolled up in my Sunday Best. But every year when I show up to mass, I'm always overly disappointed that no one and I mean no one dresses up for Church anymore. Everywhere I look women and men are in Jeans and Sneakers. Sad Sad Sad! In fact the only people dressed up are the 2 year olds in their Poofy Princess Dresses.
Church used to be a place where women showed up looking stunning in their best dresses, matching hats and gloves and men in their sharps suits and ties! Where did society go wrong? So I'm implementing RULE #15.... The perfect WIFE AND FAMILY SHOULD BE DRESSED IN FORMAL ATTIRE WHEN ATTENDING CHURCH ON SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS!

Its kind of hypocritical to make judgments about people going to church when you yourself are "dragged" there. At least they go to church, no matter what they're wearing. And doesn't that have more meaning in the end?

Church used to be a "thing"?

Taryn, very well said!!!

The Church used to REQUIRE women to attend wearing hat and gloves and gentlemen wearing suits and ties. After Vatican II, the rules were reformed so as to put emphasis on the concept that all people were welcomed by God in His church, no matter how they were dressed. Unfortunately, this well-intentioned movement towards acceptance of casual dress at church turned into a horrible precedent, where dressing up for church became rare and unusual, as opposed to being the norm.

So, Taryn, two thumbs up on your new rule...at the very least, ladies should dress as well to attend church as they would to attend lunch with their girlfriends!

Happy New Year to such an inspirational lady!

Best Wishes,

Your friend in the Hills,

Augusta
